Attention MD Users – Important MDSEC Security Enhancements
We’ve got some great updates in MDChange 8.6.17 that make life a little easier, whether you’re managing security, tracking deployments, or just trying to get the job done.
MDSEC
We’ve made two updates that simplify security management and give developers more flexibility.
We’ve simplified how access is granted in MDSEC — everything now runs through role assignments. If you had custom authorities set up before the migration, no worries! They’ve been automatically converted into new roles, so nothing falls through the cracks. The result is a tidier, faster system that’s much easier to keep track of.
Ever needed to refresh data but had to wait on an administrator to do it? That’s about to change. By adding security codes 24 and 25 to a developer role, your team can manage and run data refreshes on their own — without getting access to templates they don’t need. More independence, less waiting around.
And for admins, the MDSEC Report Generator now includes History Reports for Users Assigned to Roles, Role Authority, and User Authority — giving you a much clearer audit trail right where you need it.

MDOpen
Ever wanted to find something specific in the RFP Deployment Log without scrolling through everything? You can now filter the log by message — a small change that saves a lot of time.
We’ve also improved sorting across several views. When you click a column header to sort, the entire dataset is now sorted — not just the current page. There is no need to load all prior to a sort.
This applies to:
- Tasks
- Active RFPs
- Installed RFPs
- Active Object Requests
- Installed Object Requests
- RFP Send Listing
- MDCMS Attributes
- MDXREF IFS Search
Note: the first time you apply a custom sort, you may need to click Refresh to see the full results.
Two more handy additions for MDXREF users: the IFS Search now shows the total number of sub-folders within a folder.
A Source Content Filter has been added to the MDXREF Objects view to help you zero in on exactly what you’re looking for.
MDCMS
A frequently requested item — the RFP Submitter, is now included as a column in the Installation History Report, making it easier to track who made the submission.
